Wednesday Words
To Go Where Your VisionPoints, a few inspiration points for you and your business.
In some situations I was difficult,
in odd moments impossible,
in rare moments loathsome,
but at my best, unapproachably great.
—Oscar Levant [1958*]
Believe in yourself. Be just a bit arrogant. You’ll need it to get to the top of your game. And may you have moments in your career when you can say, Yeah, that’s me. Unapproachably great.
Grow and be well,
Kelly Erickson

Yeah, that’s me.
A little bit arrogant, sometimes difficult, occasionally impossible, but always unapproachably great

James,
So I hear! I made a poster of this one for my wall. I just love the manic exuberance of it–I try for it every day, and Oscar Levant really meant it.
Too early to offer you that glass of shiraz, but glad to see you. Have a cup of coffee, super-caff’d, and come back and see me sometime.
Regards,
Kelly

Kelly.
Darling.
I love you dearly.
The fact that I actually *remembered* to come and check whether you’d responded is a huge, huge thing in itself. Ask Harry. My memory sucks.
The fact that I actually *came back* to leave a comment is a huge, huge thing in itself.
Please. I beg of you. Join us. Leave the dark side… we want more. We want conversation. We want Kelly. We want “subscribe to comments.”
*hugs and kisses* James

James,
I was unaware of your deep love. Mostly.
What is wrong with your glasses? Above the words, “post a comment,” are the words, blah-blah-blah “subscribing to the comment feed for this post.”
Should I move it to underneath the form for you? Or get you a new prescription?
Muchisimos besos,
Kelly

@ Kelly – There’s none of that here (as I leave a comment).
Name, email, URL, and a checkbox to remember personal info. What am I missing?
There’s a comment feed link, but I don’t want a feed…
16 April 2008, 7:17 pm
My Dearest Kelly,
A comment feed is a poor substitute for a subscribe to comments. Why? Because we don’t get emails when a new comment goes up. And with the state of the Feed Reader in general these days, I rarely look at that anymore either.
@James: You’re out of control. I cannot be held responsible for anything from this point on.

Yes, guys, I know it’s a poor sub.
It is at the moment… oh, I’m in for it… the only thing TypePad has available, and I got it super-beta and was happy to have it. I’ve been pleased with it, because at least it’s a move in the right direction.
Shoot me now, because I know what’s next. Kelly, clear your calendar, and find a week to endure the headaches and heartaches of The Big Move. Ugh! Geez, guys, it’s icky! I really looked into it, I did!
*picks at daisy* He loves me, he loves me not… he’s a big liar, who really just loves WordPress… until I move to WP or Quebec (hehehe) or both, it’s rather academic. Besides, he’s given his heart to Amy.
I’m going looking for a moose. He won’t give me such a hard time about comments.
Love and all that stuff to both Men. To other readers, undoubtedly confused, regards,
Kelly

You do realize that writing it down is the first step towards commitment to action…?
As for my heart, I haven’t given it yet. There’s hope. But only if it involves WP.
Oh, and I never – ever – lie. But I’m a paid professional wordsmith… ouch, where does that leave me?

Dear sweet Man With Pen and oh, so persuasive ways,
I wrote a list about three or four weeks ago, while reading about Steve Rubel giving up on the switch because it’s so hard, of all the needs I’d have if I were going to do it. Then I went in search of the answers. It seems vaguely possible, but nasty.
So it’s been written. Whaddya want from me, anyway? I’ll get to it… I hope… sometime… when I have time…
What’s a lady to do?

Kelly, Kelly, Kelly…
Anything worth having is hard. But really, it isn’t that hard. We know what we’re doing, we’ve helped many people through such transitions, held their hands, and soothed their worries every step of the way.
If you keep waiting for the right time, it’ll never happen and then you’ll wake up one day and say “I wish I had done it…”

Dear Lady Who Loves to be Persuaded,
Not nasty at all. In less than a week, you’re up and running in a brand new home that does exactly what you want, looks great, and pleases all your readers with wonderful features.
Or, you could sit back and tell me all about that “One day” plan you have going on. I’ve got all the time in the world

Dear VoR,
Oy!
I don’t see the ROI, yet I am drawn… yes, it is all about ROI. What would The Switch really change? (OH dear, she’s asking for it again…) And no, getting that other Man With Pen off my back is not a return on my investment. He’s kinda cute sitting there smacking me in the head whenever he hears the word TypePad whispered. Well, he would be, if I could see him…
Dear Horrendous Flirt,
To quote my favorite movie, “Shut up, shut up… Keep talking, keep talking. Talk, will you?”
Later,
Kelly

Psst…
In some situations I was difficult,
in odd moments impossible,
in rare moments loathsome,
but at my best, unapproachably great.
