Steph,

Honest truth? This series was in the can in February, but I had just finished one "series" and had another one already on the way, so I put it on hold.

But I thought about you while hitting the "post" button, does that count?

Regards,

Kelly

Angie,

Welcome and thanks for your comment!

I see the #10 headache a lot. Falling totally in love with a name if you can't have it on the web is a big problem these days.

Glad you enjoyed the post. I hope the rest of the series provides direction, as well!

Regards,

You totally understand what agony people experience with developing a brand or choosing a name. I went though some of what you outline above when I comtemplating my biz name. I'm in the process of developing a biz networking site and I was going back and forth between Bizintros and MyBizZone. I ended up choosing the first name because it was easier to pronouce, it's shorter and it's signifies what I would like to site to do, which is to help people make easy introductions and maintain contact with their biz contacts.

This is the point that gave me the biggest headache:
10. Check that the web address is available: This is crucial in the Internet age!

There's a whole generation of people buying domain names for potential resell profits. So, you come across a great name, yet someone has it in use or they've set a price so high, you're priced out of the market.

At some point, you simply have to decide and run with it.
