Stuck in a Rut
I don’t do this too often, folks, but I’m going to send you away today. Chris Houchens at Shotgun Marketing Blog wants to wake you up, and he’s got a really neat take on getting fresh Perspective. You know I’m all for that.
Go read muscle shoals has got the swampers. It’s a great quick read for your Friday.
Grow and be well,
Kelly Erickson

Well, Nyah-Nyah-Nyah.
I’ll still comment here, anyway.

Argh! You are sending me away to a site I can’t read from work (on my break of course!). Will check it out from home.

*Nose pressed up to the glass*
Hey, can’t we come in if we promise to play nice and not break anything?
We could come up with our own topic….Friar could tell us a joke….
Come on Kelly, let us in…It’s Friday, we want to play…

@Panther
…yeah. On your break. Yeahhhh…THAT’s the ticket.
Just like me, like I’m doing right now!

Panther,
Blogger sites are blocked? These widget factories are nuts. Don’t they want you learning cool stuff on your “break”?
Wendi,
You are always welcome, and nobody can stop Friar from telling a joke.
Did you read Chris’ post? Really, it’s a good’un. Even though I don’t know a darn thing about Kid Rock, I still got it. (Sadly, I commented—twice—but my comments appear to be lost in the ether. Ah, well, my trackback showed up!)
Friar,
Got a good Customer Experience yarn? On your break, of course…
Later,
Kelly

Yep, read and left a comment. It was a great point and one I have used a lot before to get my foot in the door in my early days. Who couldn’t benifit from a confident, fresh perspective?

Colin’s factory is like that, too. They block everything! He emails stuff to me when He’s at work and I copy the content into a Word file and send it so he can read it!!
Over to check out your link!

Still on my break. You have no idea what my version of The Factory blocks. Gawd, don’t get me started, pu-leeze. The Lion works for National Defense and has far more access than I do. We collect tax for crying out loud!!!! See, you got me started.

On my vacation, I got to realize that not ALL small towns have crappy customer service like Splat Creek.
In Wawa, I was the only one in the restaurant at 6;00 AM, and the waitress sat down and chatted with me the whole meal, like I was a long lost friend.
(Compared to here, where I’ve been going to the same restaurant for THREE YEARS and nobody will talk to you).
When I left, I had forgotten a plastic bottle (which had fallen out of my knapsack).
A week later, after my fishing trip, I was back in the same restaurant.
They gave me back my bottle, (which they had saved). “We knew you would be coming back”, she told me.
Wow….I was speechless.
Splat Creek can learn a lot from Wawa.
PS. Before all you ladies swoon and make comments about the waitress coming onto me…she was old enough to be my Mom!

Dammit. Finally got back here (I opened this up in a tab at work, and kept trying to get back to it…)
I’ll look at that link later. Right now, I just want to hang out here. So there.

Okay, I did go read Chris’ post – that was pretty good.
I helped a fellow DJ when I was at McMaster. But it was the Midnight Metal Show on Fridays, so it was never boring for us. The beer helped, too…

Chris,
Welcome, and thank you for an inspiring post!
(Any idea where my comments are going at your site?)
Steph,
These Widget Factories have gotten a lot more controlling since my widgetmaking days. But in their defense (?), I suppose there are a lot more ways to abuse them than there once were.
And not everybody is as honest as Colin, Panther, Brett, and Friar, who only want to enhance their knowledge for the good of the company on their breaks. Hehehe.
There could be a serious post hiding in that, but… nah.
Panther,
I apologize. I am such an instigator!
Friar,
I heard it’s tough to get a date in Splat Creek. You should go back. What does age matter when a lady saves a plastic bottle in your honor?
Brett,
I dunno, how many times can you hear Enter Sandman without getting bored?
Oh, oh, I’m instigating…
Hopefully you’re all in bed.
Until later,
Kelly

Kelly,
Someday we’ll make the trek down your way, and I’ll bring along some of my CD’s… Metallica is easy listening to me
what we used to play causes mutations in small animals and children…
No way baby, I’m still up – finished the draft of “zombie two”, and now watching Star Wars: Clone Wars (there be pirates in these here waters… arrrrr….)

Brett,
Your CDs are proof that not all the nukes get locked up at night. I know, I’ve seen the videos. Surely they wouldn’t make it past the border, hehe!

Well, now that I think of it…that grandma DID seem to still have all her teeth.
(Can’t afford to be picky, here).
