Wednesday Words
To Go Where Your VisionPoints, a two-fer! of inspiration points for you and your business.
May all your troubles last as long as your New Year’s resolutions.
—Joey Adams
Resolve to make at least one person happy every day, and then in ten years you may have made three thousand, six hundred and fifty persons happy, or brightened a small town by your contribution to the fund of general enjoyment.
—Sydney Smith
Or if you like, resolve to make one customer happy every day. (Yes, it is good advice for your business!) That’s tomorrow, though.
Tonight, make your baby happy.

Did I forget to say “Happy New Year”?
Happy New Year, dear reader.
All the best in 2009.

Kelly

For the New Year, I follow my Mom’s advice. She says:
“My New Years Resolutions is to NOT make any New Years Resolutions”.
31 December 2008, 12:16 pm
I can’t but feel uncomfortable about this whole post. I mean, what about the people who do not celebrate New Year’s Eve today? Should we not strive to be less insensitive to their holidays?
Perhaps the PC thing to do is accept that New Year’s, Christmas, Hannakah, et al. is all part of our “Season’s Greetings” wishes. For those who we know for certain do celebrate New Year’s, perhaps a wink and a finger on the side of the nose should suffice. I mean why flaunt it, and risk possible offensive, no matter how unintended?
So let me be the first say wink wink, nudge nudge.
And don’t forget to buy the Alka-Seltzer today — it will be harder to do tomorrow.

Friar,
So happy to “see” you!
Your Mom’s a wise lady. I don’t do resolutions either. Plans, yes. But I sure don’t wait for New Year’s Eve, and I don’t make plans that I can’t see my way through to executing.
Graham,
A wink and a nudge to you, too. I am very glad you didn’t get Friar started, though you tried valiantly. I know for sure 2009 starts for you at midnight, so Happy New Year!
Regards,
Kelly

LOL – Guilty as charged, except that I put it out there for anyone to pounce on, not just Friar! I hereby resolve to stop baiting other people in the New Year (though I expect by Jan. 10, that will have gone the way of every other New Year’s Resolution…)
Seriously though, have a Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Kelly!
I like that second quote best. I’ve never thought of how that adds up! Cool.

Graham,
A week for not taking bait.
I hope your New Year’s celebration was lovely.
Steph,
And to you!
Yeah. One happy person. Geez, even cranky ol’ Kelly can do that.
I’m sure I try in an offhand way, but if I take that one seriously—which I am—it’ll make me pretty happy, too.
Until later,
Kelly

@Kelly
Hey, it’s not like you to go without posting for so long!
Whassup?
(Not that you HAVE to…I’m just curious!)

Friar,
Heh. Friday, realized nobody’s reading, so thought I’d put it off; Saturday, *totally forgot*; and I (almost) never do Monday posts, b/c thinking hard on Sunday isn’t my style and I have a hard time being part of the comments on Monday when I’m pretty busy.
There. All accounted for. I’ll have something whiz-bang for mañana, I promise.
Thanks for asking!
Later,
Kelly

@Kelly
Well, I just wanted to reassure you that people still read your blog (sometimes you worry about crickets chirping!)
5 January 2009, 9:51 pm
Friar,
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before… you’re my favorite cricket. Thanks for the chirp!
Later…
