Friar,

What's his face is Billy Mays. Some people love him... I don't get it.

Todd,

He has a Wikipedia page, too. His fifteen minutes of fame.

Alex,

Yes! Nothing busts through procrastination like wanting to put a smile on someone's face, or get a hug, or read their glowing thanks. Nothing.

Later,

Wow! you actually researched him. Or should I say, Sham Wow! There's definitely a charm to him. It's like, "Wow, this guy's intense and super-fast talking and somehow real too (almost like the last of a dying breed). It makes you wonder where he came from. Great person to have on an ad like that.

Todd,

Apparently he popped out of Brooklyn flea markets. (I had to research him in the middle of the night—I'm fascinated! He's... led an odd life.)

When I lived in New Jersey there were still flea markets I'd go to with barkers like him (I assume there still are...)—they could all give super-annoying cheery Billy Mays a run for his money.

Later,

Friar - that sham wow dude's got it down perfect. makes him look real... you know not to polished, just real talent for talking. Could have popped him out of a street show somewhere. he's the real reason I like those ads... no intention of buying a sham wow, but he's entertaining.

@Kelly - Yes, exactly!

@Kelly again - Yes, I know exactly what you mean. (And I never use emoticons myself, just a "lol" when necessary -- lol)

@Friar - 'Cuz he only had a five-minute break to shoot the commercial (which also explains why he's talking so fast...) Then it's back to the drive-thru...

Yes, but WHY does the Shaw-Wow dude have a head-set on?

Surely, the TV studio where he's filming the commercial would be equipped with proper microphones and sound equipment.

Graham and Janice,

That Sham Wow dude is awesome. Love his technique. Um, yes, metaphorically let's soak up the compliments. We can wring them out on another day when we need to hear them again, yes?

Graham again,

I love an eclair, but it's not me.... It's all bells and whistles. Jayne Mansfield to my preferred Katherine Hepburn style. If you know what I mean. If not, I'd better go get some coffee.

I am not inserting an emoticon here. Nope.

James,

Cognac. Stop. I'm melting just thinking about it. How can I work with such delightful words flying past my screen?

Until later,
