Wednesday Words
To Go Where Your VisionPoints, a few inspiration points for you and your business.
If your head tells you one thing, and your heart tells you another, before you do anything,
you should first decide whether you have a better head or a better heart.
—Marilyn vos Savant
To all you brainy, geeky, planner types, and all you dreamy, emotion-filled, spontaneous types, Happy Valentine’s Day. May your heart and your head get together and bring in customers who love your business all year long.
Grow and be well,
Kelly Erickson

Okay, I literally checked my calendar and said, “Shit, did I miss it? What day are we?”
Unless y’all in the U.S. celebrate on different days… shouldn’t that be pre-Valentine well-wishes?
And as for the quote, I like to think I have the head and the heart that complement each other nicely. Though they do tend to get me into trouble…

I like this one. After a few years of listening to the head and telling the heart to shut up, I think it might be better to listen to the heart first. Then get the head to figure out how to make what the heart wants to do become a reality.

James,
I only do Inspiration Points on Wednesdays. Just just like my Christmas and New Years’ versions weren’t on the exact days, neither is this, my dearest reader.
Reminds me of the time when I whispered in a friend’s ear the morning of New Years’ Eve because I wouldn’t be seeing him that night, and he thought I should have waited…
Brett,
I almost always ask The Kid what she thinks of the two or three I’m considering, the night before I hit publish. She likes to be involved once a week. So I read a couple of others and she didn’t like them, then I read this one and she says yes, that one.
“I have a better heart,” she says. “My head’s really brainy but it gets in my way all the time.”
Brainy brains are handy, though. Hard to get what the heart wants without one!
Regards,
Kelly

“I have a better heart,” she says. “My head’s really brainy but it gets in my way all the time.”
Now there’s a Poohism. Except that Pooh is a bear of little brain. But the feeling is there.

@Graham
Pooh’s head brainy? I somehow doubt it. According to the song, shouldn’t it be “stuffed with fluff”?
@Kelly
I always go with my gut feeling. (Which is almost never wrong).
I don’t know if that counts as my head. Or my heart.
Maybe it’s my stomach.

@Friar – Pooh’s head is not brainy — by self-admission, he’s a bear of little brain. That’s what I mean: the statement itself does not reflect Pooh, but the way it is said is (in my opinion) very reminiscent…

Kelly – Thanks for the pre-valentine’s wish… my heart skipped a beat too. So does that make you a brainy, geeky, planner type (since you’re already on top of Valentine’s Day?) Or is the fact that you brought it up at all make you a dreamy, emotion-filled, spontaneous type? (notice I didn’t say mushy). I can’t decide, so maybe you’ve got both working together for you! If so, what’s your secret?

Graham,
Oh yes. I’m Tigger, but the little person is definitely Pooh.
‘Cept when she’s definitely Eeyore. We try not to talk about that.
Friar,
LOL. With you—I never know. That’s for certain.
Todd,
My secret: I’m a hopeless, incurable, romantic.
Slash cranky realist.
That’s what Capricorns born in the waning days of the 60s get. All-out on all fronts.

well, except that I’m not a Capricorn.

I wrote the quote in my Moleskine, and looked at it a few times this week. Heck, it’s been a while since I’ve posted but I can see a re-quoting of this and a link back to you on Viking Fridays when I return triumphant!!!
Thanks again for the quote…

Todd,
The world needs lots of incurably romantic, cranky realists. Glad you’re among the ranks!
Brett,
Your week goes faster up in Canada, I guess. For me it’s only been a day!
Looking forward to your return to 6 Weeks with baited breath, of course.
& you’re welcome.

We’re not satisfied by anything short of the real thing… that’s why I like MCE. Satisfies both my cranky and my romantic sides. hehehe

What Zodiac sign would Pooh be? (I mean…it would seem pretty stupid if a BEAR was a Bull or a Ram or a Fish).
What about the rest of the Hundred Acre Woods Critters? Not one of those animals matches any traditional Zodiac animal.
(Unless you count the Chinese Zodiac…yes….that makes more sense).
PS. “Where are they now?”. Wasn’t Christopher Robin recently picked up for cocaine posession?

@Friar,
You’d have to use “Friar Zodiac Signs” for Pooh – he’d be under the sign of the Clyster, probably.

Friar,
You had to ask, I must opine.
Pooh=Aquarius
Owl=Sagittarius
Piglet=Virgo
Rabbit=Taurus
Christopher Robin=Leo (that’s true, I looked him up)
Eeyore=Cancer. Definitely Cancer.

Tee hee.

12 February 2009, 7:07 am
I protest. Tigger is not a Capricorn. Tigger is either Gemini or Cancer. Cancers are not woebegone by any means.
And Piglet would be Pisces. Pooh Libra. Rabbit can’t be Taurus, they don’t explode. Slow burn and internal fury, those ones. Belier, perhaps.

James,
Bwah ha ha. Pooh is no way a Libra, I have too many of those in my life and I assure you, he ain’t one of them.
And I disagree on everything else, also from personal experience and tons of reading. And you made me go to babelfish for belier, no fairsies.
You know we’re just proving Friar’s argument that astrology is hooey, right?

I’m no expert, but wouldn’t Tigger be a Scorpio? Bouncy, flouncy, fun-fun-fun-fun-fun? Pretty much says it all, doesn’t it?

To All You Planners and Dreamers and Astrologers, Come In.
Tigger would be an excellent Scorpio, yet I am Tigger, always have been. Can’t be helped.

I’m Cancer, and if anyone thinks I’m slow, unable to have visions, always look to the negative and don’t bounce… then they obviously don’t know me.
Then again, I’m just special, so maybe that’s it.

Eeyore is a realist while everyone around him has their head in the clouds, steadily getting to the wonders that everyone else will take forever to discover, with lovely eyes, and a knockout smile that he only takes out on special occasions.
Just like I imagine James and Friar, my two favorite, invisible, Cancers. ‘Nuff said.
12 February 2009, 8:41 am
Okay, that is *SO* not how I see Eeyore. And if there’s one term I hate in the world, it’s ‘realist’.
“We’re all going to die of pollution.”
*blink*
“Hey, I’m just being a realist. And this dream of yours? You’ll never make it. You’re going to fail.”
*blink*
“What? I’m just being a realist.”
No f’ing thank you.

And as usual the conversation goes waaay off in another direction.
I’m all heady except when I’m all hearty, but I’m almost never a mix of the two except when I’m extremely middle about it all.

As for horror-scopes, I don’t have a clue which personalities go with which Zodiac sign.
And that’s something I’m PROUD of!!!

Friar,
(That substitutes for what I wrote and deleted just now.)

So’s my mother. It’s an interesting place to rest your hat.
Better not get Friar started again, or he’ll be back with Astrology-Mocking-Post Part II (I haven’t forgotten, Friar!).

So basicially, the only thing preventing an unborn baby from being “influenced” by astrology, is the uterus and the Mom’s stomach muscles. As long as the kids’s inside, he’s protected, until the moment he’s born. Then suddenly, that instant exposure to the outside world will determine his personality and how he lives.
So what if a Baby’s going to be born when the stars arent’ favorable?
Why dont’ they deliver the kid inside a room, where the walls are lined with steak? The kid can stay inside there, until the stars are more properly aligned.
Interesting if you think about it. You could create a whole race of Scorpios, or Aquariusses, etc.

ROFL. Friar, that is why I love you. Didn’t I try not to get you started? *sigh* I tried.
I know the science. I’m not going to lay out my theory here b/c I’ve laid it out for you before, but basically between the time of year that you’re born and the fact that most of us hear a lot about it all our lives & maybe a few other influences, that’s astrology to me.
And you are *such* a Cancer. Pfft.
P.S. to James, realist and pessimist are not the same thing. Eeyore was a misunderstood savant and a realist, always seeing the truth before others did, leading only those who listened to his carefully chosen words.
(So I know too much about Winnie and friends—so what!)
16 February 2009, 1:35 pm
Yup, you guessed right! Scorpio. And, Friar, it is a real science… believe it or not!
The most accurate form of astrology I know is Jyotish, from ancient India.
