Wednesday Words
To Go Where Your VisionPoints, a few inspiration points for you and your business.
Real friends are those who,
when you’ve made a fool of yourself,
don’t feel that you’ve
done a permanent job.
—Erwin T. Randall
Welcome to the 299th post at the Maximum Customer Experience Blog.
Whether you’ve been a friend since I humbly began this little experiment, or you’re a new friend, taking a chance on finding great ideas to help grow your business here, I thank you. There’s so much content to choose from on the Wild Wild Web, I’m honored to have you along for the ride.
I’ll continue to make a fool of myself just as often as required in the job description, while fool-ishly hoping for big growth in the numbers of our friends over the next 299 posts—so we can make this blog really shine, in the comments. (That’s where the magic happens, y’all.) At 299, I think we can call this a permanent job.
TOMORROW, I make my second attempt at giving gifts away at the MCE Blog. (Ah, fond memories of foolishness!) Yes, there is a quest involved! C’mon back for your chance at a birthday present.
Hint: It will involve friends, and word-of-mouth, two things no small business (or small business blog) can be without. I need your help!
Hint 2: If you’re shy, or new to MCE Blog, take a minute to say Hi today. You’ll be glad you did tomorrow.
Grow and be well,
Kelly Erickson

Greetings. I am a new follower, but thoroughly enjoy reading what a fellow Customer Experience professional has to say. Keep up the good word (no typo).

Wonder what the gift will be?
A one-hour email exchange with Kelly, valued at $500?
MCE napkins (and matching ball-caps and de-coder rings?)
A sticker with the MCE logo on it?
A free hamburger?
Oooh…can’t wait.

I’m not new or shy. But I’m saying hi anyway.
Don’t say contest. I see red when I see contest. Ask Friar, I am still plotting my revenge for not winning his. Firebombing his house would be too nice.

@Kelly
You better let Eyeteaguy win, or you’ll never hear the end of it.

Sonia,
Hello and welcome to Maximum Customer Experience!
Friar,
You, my dear, can have a one-hour email exchange anytime.
‘Course I don’t guarantee it would be on a useful topic…
Ball caps and decoder rings—ROFL! You rock.
Francis,
I didn’t say contest. I said quest.
Does that help?
Regards,
Kelly

I just did a google search for ball-caps and de-coder rings, so, here I am…..I think I am lost ; )
Great Site Kelly….empowering!!

Chas,
LOL—Friar just has a very, very good memory. Scary, actually, but absolutely not a requirement for reading the blog.
Glad you’re enjoying kicking around here!
Until later,
Kelly

Contest, quest, whatever, I still want to win/get there first/beat everybody.
Since I already won, what do I get? And don’t say a page of doodles, that has been done to death.
I feel a Monty Python quote coming…
Bridgekeeper: Stop. Who would cross the Bridge of Death must answer me these questions three, ere the other side he see.
Sir Lancelot: Ask me the questions, bridgekeeper. I am not afraid.
Bridgekeeper: What… is your name?
Sir Lancelot: My name is Sir Lancelot of Camelot.
Bridgekeeper: What… is your quest?
Sir Lancelot: To seek the Holy Grail.
Bridgekeeper: What… is your favourite colour?
Sir Lancelot: Blue.
Bridgekeeper: Go on. Off you go.
Sir Lancelot: Oh, thank you. Thank you very much.
Sir Robin: That’s easy
Eyeteaguy.
To drive Friar to an early grave.
Blue.
Now give me my prize/gift/present.

@Eyeteaguy
All I have to say is: NEE! NEE! NEE!
18 March 2009, 9:46 pm
Not that I don’t appreciate Monty Python and Basil the Dog quotes, but where is everybody?
Still recovering from St. Patrick’s Day perhaps. Yeah, that’s it.
Francis, I am SURE you have it in you to do anything you put your mind to, or at least to weight the dice in your favor.
It remains to be seen whether you’ll put your mind to this, however.
Until later,
Kelly

@Kelly
Where is everybody?
Probably at one of the COOL KIDS’s blogs! Discussing the latest “to do list’ involving Twitter or Snitter or SEO or how to blog about twittering while blogging.
P.S.
“Nee!” still applies to Monty Python. Basil was just imitating that movie.

Then Basil’s smarter than you think, lol.
18 March 2009, 10:32 pm
Oh—and you are one of the Cool Kids. Go Tweet something, eh?
18 March 2009, 11:04 pm
Heh. Some Cool Kid. I tweet, and maybe 5 people talk back to on a semi-regular basis.
I think I have about 80 followers. The Cool Kids have THOUSANDS.
(not that I really count..it’s just that it’s so prominently displayed on my front Twit Page).
But Twitter DOES have it’s uses. It’s really good for wasting time, when you want to procrastinate and avoid doing something else.

Friar,
Patience, grasshopper. You’ve got the coolness, you’ll get the numbers. You make all the right moves, plus you’re funny as anything. That’s a combo made for rising statistics.
Later,
Kelly

@Friar
And you have me as a sidekick…. you can’t fail. And if you do I’ll be there to laugh at you (but in a good way)

Given my tendency to jump into fun new activities, I definitely make a fool out of myself regularly – and have stronger friendships for it!

Alex,
Me, too! This has been one of my favorite quotations for years, because it’s one that my own experiences prove out on a regular basis.
Until later,
