To Go Where Your VisionPoints, a few inspiration points for you and your business.
The opportunities of man are limited only by his imagination. But so few have imagination that there are ten thousand fiddlers to one composer.
—Charles F. Kettering
“So few have imagination that there are ten thousand fiddlers to one composer.”
Dang, I love that.
Don’t wait for some conductor to tap a stick and tell you what to play.
Imagine. Risk. Lead.
Get out there and compose.

Good one, Kelly. I like it too.
I think people compose all the time (we all have great ideas) but very few take the time to write down their thoughts, and gather an orchestra.
To be fair, it takes a lot of resources to make it happen. You have to think long term, even when you’re scraping by.

And how many fiddlers think they’re composers?
(Of course I put myself outside of that because I don’t think I’m a composer – I know I’m one.)

Todd,
Ah, yes. To compose and to be known for your compositions aren’t the same thing. True.
Still, many people are willing to be led. Too few are even willing to take that first, private step of composing a completely original idea in their basement—maybe the resources and the long-term commitment scare them off from their first steps in composition, or maybe like Kettering says, they don’t have the imagination in the first place.
Alex,
Yep. You are definitely a composer. It’s a great job for a big thinker with plenty of energy. (You’d be so trapped as a fiddler for someone else!)
Regards,
Kelly
