To Go Where Your VisionPoints, a few inspiration points for you and your business.
… a good social tool is like a good woodworking tool—it must be designed to fit the job being done, and it must help people do something they actually want to do. If you designed a better shovel, people would not rush out to dig more ditches.
—Clay Shirky in Here Comes Everybody*
(Never mind that shovels are not woodworking tools….)
He stretched the metaphor, so I will, too: it’s not only online social networking tools that this applies to. When you’re focusing your business on providing Maximum Customer Experience, this applies to you, as well, because you need to answer one central question:
Does anyone want what you’re selling?
After that, the who, the how to reach them, and all the rest is fine-tuning.
If nobody wants to dig ditches with what you’re selling, dear reader, it’s not a business. It’s a very time-consuming hobby.
Grow and be well,
