I won’t take long here at MCE today, because I really want you to click through to this post from Jason Whitaker:
Why I Never Hire Brilliant Men
Whether you are one or you’ve hired one, you’ll get a kick out of the story. Jason did a great job in hunting down the original article (you’ll see when you get there) and he’s right—it’s as applicable and as interesting today, as it must have been when it first appeared in The American Magazine.
Remember Jason’s article when looking for your next hire. He’s on to something brilliant.
Grow and be well,
Kelly Erickson

I didn’t intend to read the whole thing, but that article was brilliant. Making friends with mediocrity seems to be the perfect approach for long term gains.

Todd,
I know what you mean—I didn’t intend to read the whole thing, either, but it sucked me in with its contrarian truth. Brilliance does so often carry with it restlessness and discontent… neither of which help with stick-to-it-iveness. Jason put together a wonderful thought-piece on the subject, for sure. Glad you enjoyed it!
Regards,
Kelly

Hahaha!!
Well, the wit is often in evidence here, but the flights of fancy are far more rare. (Thank goodness for the CCC!)
Glad to have you here. If you know of anyone else who could benefit from a little MCE, feel free to spread the word!
Later,
Kelly
